Checklists have proven to be an effective risk management tool for reducing errors in surgical and hospital settings. (AHRQ, June 2017). Checklists can also be an effective tool in any setting vulnerable to recurring errors. Consider the use of checklists in primary care, by radiologists, cardiologists, dentists and for office based surgeries/procedures performed by dermatologists, ophthalmologists, and dentists. For all practical purposes, checklists can be effective in any medical practice. This educational webinar will review NORCAL group claims where use of a checklist might have prevented patient harm from occurring. Additionally, this will discuss how to create and implement checklists so your staff will actually use them.
