Legislative Alert - Bill HB 1329

HB 1329 by Representative Richard Corcoran is moving through the Legislature.  This bill is huge insurance company money grabs masquerading as “consumer protection.” The bill would unfairly limit the amount of compensation a physician could receive for providing emergency room care to patients enrolled in PPOs. It would also require physicians to provide a written estimate of their charges to PPO patients before performing scheduled treatment in a hospital. If the actual cost exceeds the estimate by 200 percent, the physician would be prohibited from recovering the balance.
In plain English, what this means is that an insurance company can force a physician to accept whatever prices it dictates for services, even when the physician doesn't have a contract with the insurer.

Please contact your local Senator and Representative using the link below and urge them to vote no on this bill (and any similar Senate amendment).  Thank you in advance for your help.
