Florida Department of Health – Influenza Guidance Letter
The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is reporting a moderately severe influenza season with widespread activity across Florida. In response, the DOH has provided influenza guidance letters to health care providers with disease reporting requirements and recommendations on offering the influenza vaccine, administering antivirals and chemoprophylaxis. An additional letter has been attached specifically for health care providers who care for pregnant women with more specific influenza recommendations and statistics for that population.
At this time, there is no shortage of antivirals or influenza vaccine. Please encourage your patients to get vaccinated against the flu if they have not already gotten the 2017-2018 influenza vaccine.
If you have any questions regarding the information in these documents, please contact the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County at 727-824-6932.
